3:17 pm - Bella has babies, day 2
|
The babies are still wrinkly and pink, but definitely fatter and paler than when they were born. They're much bigger, and I can hear them squeaking every now and then!
We got cotton-wool type bedding (hamster safe, not just cotton wool!!) but Bella doesn't seem that interested in it. In fact, Bella doesn't seem to like anything 'luxury'! She ignores the things we got her to gnaw on, she ignores the dried fruit, she ignores the nice bedding... crazy hamster! She does like to attempt escape still though.
I'm very proud of her, because every time she leaves her little nest, she stuffs the tube with bedding to protect the babies and when she's with the babies, she keeps them warm and safe! Every noise she hears makes her worried, and she goes to check on the babies! She's a good mummy.

11:00 pm - Bellatrix - Bella has babies Day 0
|
So, on Saturday, Heather and I are walking to Morrison's, and, on walking past the pet shop, I say "Hey, let's look at the bunnies!" How could I have known the drama that would ensue?
Anyway, we look at all the cute bunnies and guinea pigs and hamsters, and then carry on along our way. We were talking about how fun and spontaneous it'd be to go home with a hamster. Needless to say, the day followed its course and we ended up with a female Syrian hamster, whom we named Bellatrix. (note, this was because Heather likes the idea of raising a death-eater pet.)
So we get Bella home, set up her cage, settle her in. All goes fine.
Anyway, today I wake up, all is normal. Landlord calls to say they'll pop round to sort out the roof. Score. So Heather stows Bella in her room, in case of the landlord's disapproval and goes off to uni. She gets back and, although the roof people have been, they return and, since the ladder was positioned by her window, she puts the hamster in the wardrobe. Roof people leave. I come upstairs and Heather gleefully tells me of her cunning plan to stow the hamster away! Anyway, we get her cage back onto the desk and Heather says "Woah, what's that she's got? Is it a baby?" and I'm like, "No, don't be stupid, it'll just be a weird shaped piece of apple or something." No. It was a baby. The first of five no less. So in 4 days we've gone from 0 hamsters to 6!! I think these hamster babies are named George, Julian, Anne, Dick and Timmy. Yes, literature of questionable quality does influence our naming abilities.
So here we are. Five hamster babies, one death eater hamster and three housemates... unsure of what's going to happen! I think we're going to keep the babies until they're 16 days old, so I'll get to watch them turn in to real hamsters! With adventurous spirits.

Soooo Friday
Got up at 3am! eek, and got all dressed and stuff, and we went off to the airport. Luck we went with MY choice of times, because check-in only took us moments, we were second in the queue, but the number of people waiting to go through the customs type place was enormous. Apparently there was a fire alarm earlier, so they were on high security etc. Oh and then I bought a bag, because my college bag is broken and shit! Anywho, we got through all that, got on the plane and all was hunky-dorey! Got to Munich, got our barings, and it took us about...25 minutes to walk the short way to the hotel, what with suitcases and snow!! The hotel was alright, we read some crappy reviews, and people weren't lying when they said the towels were shit! Luckily I brought my own hahaha! So yeah. We went off to explore munich, and by the time we got to the pedestrian precinct, my feet were KILLING me, so we went sensible-shoe-shopping. We eventually agreed that snow boots were going to be the best option (considering the growing layer of snow outside!) so I got some hairy pink snow boots! haha! Urm and then we just generally mooched about the city, went to a cafe for a nice cup of tea, back to the hotel, changed and then went down to the lobby, where we met Guenter and Birgit. They took us out to this rather posh traditional bavarian resteraunt. I really expected to hate it, particularly when I didn't recognise anything on the menu. After swapping it for an english one, I got Rump Steak with german-ish veggies etc. The salad arrived, and holy-moly was it yummy! For once I didn't mind their food. And the whole meal was nice. Guenter and Birgit were very nice, though they didn't recognise me at first. They bought me this gigantic book on bavaria for my birthday, as well as another adorable card with a picture of the children on the front! Then we talked technicalities, signed contracts etc, and went out for drinks! After that long exhausting day I went off to bed! :D
Saturday
So, rather strangely, considering the tiringness of the previous day, I was up and ready for the day at around 8 o'clock german time. Which is 7am here. We went down for breakfast - the real test of the hotel, where i immediately began talking german to the lady who gives ya coffee! Was quite proud of that :D After that, we went off back into the city for more shopping... we shopped until about 1, and then went off back to the hotel. At half past two we met Guenter and Birgit with the children, Chiara (4) Sandro (2) and Annika (4 months!!) and went to a cafe with them. Sandro made me laugh more than anything in my life... he is going to be three this month, and he's just so interested in learning how things work. Including sliding doors and lights in the floor. He also likes to play with snow! I bought him a Thomas the Tank Engine toy from the airport, and he was so happy with it, it made me smile. Chiara is very shy, and it took her a while to talk to me. I'd bought her a magic pictures book, where you rub a coin over the paper, and a picture appeared... she really liked it, and finished the whole book while we were in the cafe! She and I had some funny conversations in a broken mixture of german and english. Annika is the most peaceful baby I've ever seen. She was happy to just watch people, and look at things, and she didn't cry or anything. Anyway, after spending two hours over one slice of cake each, we left there, and wandered back to the hotel again. Once they'd left, we tried packing our stuff, and realised that we'd bought way too much, and needed at least another bag, so off we went. We ate in Pizza Hut in the evening, which would have been ok if I'd not already had too much sugar. In germany they seem to sweeten sauces a lot, and I have bad reactions to sugar, so I wasn't too happy for a while. Still, after that we had some drinks in the bar, and I talked to my mum more than I have in years... about bits and bobs, it was pretty interesting, and I'm glad that she and I chose this as my birthday-weekend thing. Another relatively early night after an exhausting day!
Sunday
So, being the paranoid, over-planning traveller that I am, We got up at 6 this morning. We got dressed and packed properly, ate breakfast and were out of the hotel by 7:20. When we arrived at the station (after lugging suitcases through 40cm of snow, for miles it seemed, i was not happy, and i thought my arms might fall off!) we discovered that the S-Bahn, all trains and all buses were cancelled. It was pretty shit, I panicked that we'd not get to the airport, we'd miss the flight, and I'd spend my birthday in chaos. So yeah, I was crying, and mum had to take charge (something she'd not had to do all weekend, as she isn't a german speaker) we went outside to find a taxi, and a russian man offered to let us go with him to the airport. So we did, and we got there in plenty of time. Even if we did have to walk accross about a million terminals! When we got to the check-in, there were a weird amount of people there, and then when I double-checked the boards I found that there were two munich-stansted flights at 11:40. Then, from talking to people in the queue, we found that yesterday's whole flight was cancelled, because of the snow, and that it had been rescheduelled for the same time as ours. Fair enough thought I, and off we went. Again, being the cautious people we are, we went through customs as soon as possible, and began our 2 1/2 hour sit, to wait for the flight. The we heard that the other 11:40 flight had been delayed, but ours was fine. 10 minutes before bording time I went off into a shop, and came back to see that our flight had now been delayed. By three hours. So of course, I did more crying, having to spend my birthday in an airport etc. When we eventually borded the flight, it was after 2. We all sat down, and the captain man spoke to us. He told us that munich only had one runway open, and that they were averageing 10 plans an hour leaving. We were around 30th. So quick maths tells you thats an extra three hours on the plane when it wasn't even moving. Still, we got home eventually, I got some nice cards and my grandma bought me a charm bracelet. Everyone else bought be charms to go on the bracelet :D And I went out for my first legal drink.
So...no one can say my 18th was uneventful!

What the HELL is wrong with me!? I get SO worked up, so easily!! Looks like Germany could ruin everything...fingers crossed it can be worked around though... I think I'm gunna throw up, I really do. I just started crying, over nothing upsetting, it was something nice, and now I just can't stop, I've opened the flood gates, and tears are pouring down my face... I think it's just all the emotion and nerves of the last couple of days escaping, but it's quite scary. Lets hold our breath, and pray that hope is not lost!

12:28 pm - College?

Just discovered that I actually can use LJ from college, and it's not blocked like I thought.
Ummm let's see... Sunday? I spent lots of time talking to Chelsea, poor girlie, things aren't going her way, are they? Also had yummy roast turkey and ummmmm didn't do much else.
Yesterday was fun. Except I went for a walk with Tamar, and did lots of walking round town, including to the cinema and back, so my legs are now sore! Got a sonic toy from McDonalds heehee!
Ummmm I think I should both put more effort into college work, and go out more. So I'm gunna try and make those two things work together.

Woooo I love Placebo again =D
I dyed my hair purple again today. It seems to have taken better than last time, but we'll see what happens after I wash it.
I was just looking back through my LJ archive. I've come to the conclusion that I should spell-check my entries before I click enter.
Other than that, have been a bit lazy all day, I'm gunna take my nails off tomorrow, I think.
I reckon thats it, anything else I say will just be repetetive in combination with all my other entries.

6:28 pm - Wooo
|
You know those days, where, when you wake up you're already totally sure of how the day is going to be? Thats how I woke up feeling. I was sure I'd fall back to sleep, and either miss the bus, or stress myself out like crazy trying to catch it. I didn't, I got dressed and did my make up, and had my breakfast with no problems. Spent a little too long looking for my other shoe, and thought 'aha, so i AM going to miss my bus, thought so.' Ran to the bus stop, sure that I'd missed it. Bus came round the corner. Woo. Thought 'ah, well, I won't have time to get chewing gum and water before my exams, crap' but managed to catch the early bus, went to costa, and got to college by 8:10. I then thought 'wonderful, theres an hour and 5 minutes before my exams, no one will be here, and i'm gunna get bored!' and then I found James. And then moments later Graeme walked past, so i followed him. And then I went to my exams thinking 'oh shit, I should have revised. I don't know what happens in As You Like It, I don't remember anything about poetry and Jane Eyre was so long ago!' but when I got into the exam, I found I could remember more than I thought, and I wrote for the full time. Then I went to german, found out it was 2 hours, not 1 1/2, so I thought 'wonderful, I'll never get home now!!' finished in just over an hour, and the examiner let me go. Caught the early buses and everything!! And to top off my much-better-than-expected day, casper text me! And there was no traffic. And the scary man didn't get on the bus.
So now I'm waiting for a low point. Worst parts of the day were - the dread when I woke up, and the knowledge that one sentence of my german was in the wrong tense. Thats a pretty good day! And yesterday's headache is gone. And I'm happy happy.
It's so nice to feel the lack of pressure you get after an exam. It's all done now, theres nothing I can do about those exams, and I don't have more to revise for until June!

Dear everyone who bothers to read this, I need new hair (not like a hair transplant...) because my hair is stripy and boring. Any suggestions?
Urmmm today I became happy. Muchly happy. I decided that being single until i come back from Germany is a good idea - avoid complicated feelings n shit. It's all good. I should prolly do some work. Heh!
Urm... what else? Had no college today. It was ace. Second wednesday in a row. Didn't go to peterborough like i'd planned though, that kinda sucks, but still had a nice boring day :D

Eep, left updates a while. So far a confusing start to the year. I feel different, as a person, more confident and happy. I'm still a bit confused about things, but i reckon i shouldn't waste my time being so, it's out of my control. I'll just concentrate on more important things! My hair is wiggly. I'm kinda sleepy. Went to POS on friday, twas quite fun. Emma would've made it funner though. Anyway, i got this weird sugar reaction thing that I've had a few times before, and made JJ leave at 1:10, cus i felt weird. Anyway, got back to his, went to sleep...woke up in the morning wondering why my bed was a funny colour, heehee, i like when you forget stuff in your sleep. Went to Yaxley while JJ got his hair cut, it looked pretty, like David Bowie! Went home, mooched about for a bit, went to Hampton where I got a skirt, a hair brush and a hair band (I now have 3 plain black hair band thingies!) and we also got series 9 of friends and 2 random movies. Only S10 left to get!
ummm today has been boring. I made my bed for once. Had a shower. Cooked Chilli. Went online. That's about it.
*giggles* Oh my life is so fascinating. I need to make some changes.
